NEW DELHI: Reacting to Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee’s remarks that had he been present at the spot where BJP workers were protesting, he would have shot them multiple times in their heads, the saffron party on Thursday said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her nephew have a “fascist mindset” and “no regard for the Constitution”.

Abhishek used the words “goli marna” multiple times at a press conference.
Meanwhile, at its press conference, BJP said they cannot tolerate any democratic opposition. “The new Trinamool Congress has shown its real face under Abhishek Banerjee as being a mafia party. If corruption scandals like coal scam, SSC scam and cow smuggling are being detected, the youths will protest,” said Lok Sabha MP Saumitra Khan, who addressed a press conference with two other BJP leaders Zafar Islam and Anirban Ganguly. They said the TMC regime in Bengal is working with a “fascist” and “dictatorial” mindset.

Islam said the country runs according to the Constitution and “West Bengal cannot be a dictatorship of TMC and its leader Mamata Banerjee”. Showing the video of assault on BJP’s rally against the TMC government on Tuesday, Ganguly said, “Violence was unleashed against BJP workers in Kolkata. Under which manual was Kolkata Police authorised to pelt stones on a peaceful political protest?”

On Abhishek’s “goli maro” remarks, Ganguly said, “This shows the mindset of Abhishek, the extra-constitutional authority in West Bengal… Under Mamata and Abhishek, TMC government is working like a fascist and dictatorial government.”

Khan, a BJP MP from West Bengal, alleged that TMC used its workers to instigate violence and attack BJP workers during the rally.

Meanwhile, Bengal BJP general secretary Agnimitra Paul said, “Who is Abhishek? Is he the super CM? If he can say these things, I can also say that I would have liked to drag the cattle smugglers, the gold smugglers and the coal thieves in the bazaar and instigate the public to stone them. But BJP respects the law and we will not do that.”
