At historic Shravasti – “Pali: India’s Classical Language and Buddha’s Legacy” organised by SPMRF, attended by senior monks and scholars, students and activists from various social and cultural organisations. Appreciation in unison of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s conferring of classical language status on Pali, revival of the Nalanda University in a new light and form and his indefatigable effort to preserve and disseminate the Buddha legacy and heritage. This is also a lasting tribute to Babasaheb Dr B.R.Ambedkar, Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee who was also president of the Maha Bodhi Society of India and a long list of scholar-thinkers who dedicated their lives to this mission.
Bhadant Shraddhalok Mahasthavir – president of Sri Lanka Buddha Vihar, Shravasti the seniormost monk in the region presided and blessed the programme. Bhadant praised PM Modi for his dedication to Lord Buddha’s legacy and message. Prof Ram Nakshatra Prasad Singh, former VC, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, veteran scholar of Pali and Sanskrit, Prof Arun Yadav, BHU, Subroto Barua, president Buddha Tri-Ratna Mission, Bhikkhuni Dhammedha Theri, Convener, Mahaprajapati Gautami Sramaner Prashikshan Kendra were among those who spoke.
