Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji delivered a powerful keynote address on the dark days of #Emergency1975 marking 50 fifty years of the dictatorship clamped on the country by Mrs Indira Gandhi and her govt. The public programme organised by SPMRF at PMML saw activists who resisted #Emergency1975 being honoured by Union Home Minister.
Shri Amit Shah Ji reminisced how as a 11 years old boy he witnessed the excesses of #Emergency in his village. The sole reason for Mrs Gandhi to clamp #Emergency was to save her chair. There was no external threat, internal disturbance of any kind, journalists were called anti-socials, students were considered anarchists, people were looked upon as slaves. The memory and history of #Emergency1975 must be continuously disseminated across generations he said, democracy is safeguarded, so that, like a Jayaprakash Narayan, they can rise to resist any attempt to destroy democracy. The spirit and essence of the people of India is democratic and that is why India is referred to as the Mother of Democracy. Thanks team SPMRF for the effort. #SamvidhanHatyaDiwas
