In Behrampore, Murshidabad, on occasion of Basanti Puja & Ram Navami inaugurated the annual programme of Vivekananda Vyayam Samiti -founded in 1941 by late Pranab K Bhattacharya, who went on to become a leading disciple of Sri Aurobindo & Sree Ma in Pondicherry.
Was impressed with skilled performance of yoga,acrobatics, self-defence techniques by students & elders.Inaugurated Pranab Kr Bhattacharya Centenary Yoga Hall for women. Was happy to be able get this special hall constructed so that interest in Yoga grows in the area. #FitIndia
Paid tribute at 32 Dhanmondi, where Bangabandhu” lived & strove to actualise his “Swadhin Bangladesh” vision. A poignant & moving experience. It was here that his life was cut short on 15th Aug 1975 by Pak backed “Razakar” assassins who wanted to decimate the #Bangladesh dream.
Took part in the early morning “Mangal Aarati” at Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka. The centre started its activities 1899, Swami Vivekananda’s last visit to Dhaka was in 1901, he addressed students at Jagannath University. Later met members of VHP, Dhaka Mahanagar.
Had an extensive discussion in Dhaka with leading MPs & eminent citizens from the Hindu community. Was delighted to meet once more veteran MP from my ancestral district Bikrampore! Presented them each with the Bengali translation of PM Modi’s historic address in Ayodhya.
In historic Chittagong met, after a long gap, the legendary Advocate Rana Dasgupta, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Oikya Parishad along with other veterans of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Had a very fruitful discussion on several issues.
On way to Chittagong visited the famous Radha Madhav Mandir in Noakhali/Choumohoni which was vandalised on Vijaya Dashami last year.
While returning from Chittagong visited Anandamayee Kali Mandir in Brahmanbaria town. Interacted with the Trustees. The temple is a vibrant centre for Hindu pilgrims. It also houses a Mandir dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna. The temple bore the brunt of vandals last March.
Visited the ISKON Mandir at Noakhali. Was overwhelmed by the warmth of head priest Swami Raaspriya Das. Interacted with devotees, took part in special Aarati & Kirtan.
Was honoured & moved to be presented with a special edition of #BhagavadGita on the soil of #Noakhali.
Visited the sacred birthplace of Anandamayee Ma in Kheora village in Brahmanbaria district, Bangladesh. She was born here on April 30, 1896. Visited the school founded through her support, met with friends who look after the Ashram named after her. Was happy to address them.
At Choumohoni in #Noakhali visited Sree Sree Ram Thakur Ashram. Offered Pranam at the sacred Samadhi of Sree Sree Ram Thakur. Interacted with members of the Ashram board. The Ashram was attacked & vandalised by jihadi elements on Vijaya Dashami last & is being renovated.
Sree Sree Ram Thakur’s sacred physical frame is in Samadhi here in Noakhali. His millions of adherents in India, Bangladesh & across the world revere this centre, it is the collective duty of every generation to preserve & protect this spot.
At Gandhi Ashram Trust in Noakhali, was happy to visit the new exhibition centre set up with support from Modi Govt & to extensively interact with the office bearers of the Ashram.
