The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday (July 22, 2022) raided several locations of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee government minister Partha Chatterjee. A huge amount of Rs 20 crore was recovered.

Along with this, more than 20 valuable mobile phones, gold, foreign currency, land documents etc. have been recovered from Arpita’s house. Arpita Mukherjee had kept 20 crores hidden in two bags.

This case is related to the recruitment scam of West Bengal. Partha Chatterjee’s troubles may increase in the case of West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) and West Bengal Board of Primary Education scam. At the same time, ED raids are also going on at Partha Chatterjee’s house.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the West Bengal education scam. The central agency has initiated a probe into irregularities in recruitment of Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ staff and teachers in government-sponsored and aided schools on the recommendations of the West Bengal School Service Commission.

Partha Chatterjee, the current Industries Minister in the Mamata Banerjee government, was the Education Minister when the scam broke out. The CBI has questioned him twice. The first questioning was done on 25 April, while the second time on 18 May.
